What is summer art camp?
Summer art camp is a full-day creative program where children spend the whole day making art, playing games, and trying hands-on projects — not just a single one-hour class. At Oxford Art Academy in Richmond Hill, campers ages 5–13 enjoy two guided studio sessions a day plus crafts, snacks, and indoor and outdoor play, all supervised by professional art teachers in small groups.
What does a typical day look like?
Camp runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a steady rhythm of creating, moving, and resting, so children stay engaged all day without getting overwhelmed. A typical day includes:
- Morning: welcome and icebreakers, then Art Studio Session #1 — drawing, painting, watercolor, and mixed media.
- Midday: a creative craft workshop (slime, clay, jewellery making and more), lunch together, and optional outdoor games.
- Afternoon: Art Studio Session #2 — canvas painting, sculpture, and collaborative art — followed by fun challenges and movie or free-choice time.
- Every Friday is Pizza Day 🍕
You can see the full hour-by-hour breakdown on our summer camp page.
What ages is summer camp for?
Summer camp is designed for children approximately 5 to 13 years old. Campers are grouped by age, with up to 10 children per group so every child gets personal attention and projects that suit their stage.
